Bugs give robotic arms a hand
  • When attached to the hands of robotic arms, pill bugs and chitons can function as functional grippers.
  • They found the chiton grasped any object placed before it, including cork and wooden and plastic objects.
  • Using microstructures at the tips of their toes, grippers using a living gecko could retrieve items.
