Medical ‘microrobots’ could one day treat bladder disease, other human illnesses

  • Engineers have created a new class of ‘microbots’ that are several times the width of a human hair.
  • They may be capable of treating human illnesses such as interstitial cystitis, a painful bladder disease that affects millions of Americans.
  • They can also travel at speeds of about 3 millimetres per second, or roughly 9,000 times their own length per minute.
